Top 5 Quarterbacks

1. Blake Bortles, UCF – Bortles is a big-bodied quarterback who possesses surprising athleticism for a guy his size. He’s got a big arm and is able to make throws on the move outside the pocket. He also possesses great vision and keeps his eyes downfield well. He reminds many people of Ben Roethlisberger. Bortles lacks the elite arm strength and needs to improve his deep ball accuracy.

2. Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville – Teddy Bridgewater is the most accurate quarterback in this class. He is able to make throws on the move and has displayed good mobility. The biggest knock on Bridgewater is his slight frame. Lots of people are questioning if his body will prove to be durable enough in the NFL.

3. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M – Johnny Manziel is the toughest quarterback to evaluate. He is the definition of a boom or bust player. I think he has the potential to be a superstar, but theres also a chance he could be a career backup. Obviously his strength is making plays when the play breaks down and his quickness is nearly unmatched. However, his decision making is somewhat questionable and we’ll see if his smaller size will be durable enough in the NFL.

4. Derek Carr, Fresno State – Carr really does have a great arm. He has impressive velocity and displays the accuracy to fit balls into tight spaces. His athleticism is underrated and is capable of making players miss. Carr seemed to struggle against better competition while at Fresno State. He also played in a shotgun friendly system which relied on the passing game, which inflated his stats greatly.

5. Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois – Garoppolo comes out of the small school Eastern Illinois, the same school where Tony Romo played at. He has a strong arm and great mechanics, and also can make every NFL throw. However, he doesn’t have great mobility and the level of competition he faces is certainly a concern.
